The IT-support which users usually talk about when they describe which systems they work with.
Description
An application consists of different application modules and interfaces and is thus a kind of grouping.
According to ArchiMate, an application component is defined as a modular, developable and interchangeable part of a software system that contains its function and data and exposes these through a group of interfaces.
To avoid misunderstandings, it is important to point out that ArchiMate uses the same meta-object for both application and application module.
Example
- CRM-system
- Booking system
- Task Management systems (usually under a name assigned by the supplier, i.e. Oracle CRM)
