A visual description of the functionality which an application module has expressed in the form of application modules and application interfaces.
Purpose
The AD-view is used to give an overall perspective over modules and interfaces in a specific physical system.
Way of Working
- Choose a specific application.
- Identify included modules and interface for example from a systems documentation.
- Besides the obvious functional modules for example for Order, Storage and Invoicing, the following are even considered as modules: Client application, Application servers and database in a three-layer solution.
- Interface is either thin web clients for users, or programming interface (API) which offers services to other applications.
