ArchiMate gives us some of the most central concepts in the implementation dimension: Plateu, Deliverable and Work Package
In short, implementation is about realizing a planned change. To be able to do this, three things are needed:
- The ability to describe different architectures in terms of structure and content
- The opportunity to describe what is to be developed to realize the imagined architecture
- The opportunity to describe the work required for what is to be produced
ArchiMate specifies three meta objects for this purpose:
- Plateau
- Deliverable
- Work Package
Below are ArchiMate's definitions of these objects.
These three objects form the basis of Prime Arch's core objects in the implementation dimension:
Archimate also specifies how these meta-objects should relate to each other:
Prime Arch is also based on these relationships to build on a solid standard:
In the article "A hike in the wilderness" we introduce a simple metaphor for putting these objects from the implementation dimension in relation to each other to strengthen the practical understanding. With the help of this metaphor, we can also lay the foundation for Prime Arch's placement of the meta-objects in the usual structure based on columns and levels.
