Something a business needs to know in order to reach the desired result. It is used in a broader sense and even includes Capability Flow and Functional Requirement.
Capabilities are often used to describe a desired situation which means that a business needs to change in order to develop the new capability.
This means that the capabilities need to be connected to goal and indicator.
Capabilities have also a connection to the organization(s) which needs that capability and the means for securing that the capability will be reached. For example processes, services, technical system etc.
A completely described capability has therefore both indicators and connections to other elements which together explain how good the business is in making use of that capability.
Capabilities are often categorized according to abstraction level or the means for achieving them. For instance business capabilities or technical capabilities.
This means that capabilities could be related to each other and broken down in components.
