In the article Plan for consolidating IT systems, we describe how applications can be classified in an overall way to get an idea of the potential to consolidate the number of systems in order to simplify and streamline application management.

We also show in a fictitious example how the plan can be visualized in something commonly called an "IT roadmap" where you can clearly see how the applications are consolidated step by step. To illustrate the change over time, the implementation dimension is used.
