Core vs Extended

Description

Capabilities are often used to describe a desired situation which means that a business needs to change in order to develop the new capability. This means that the capabilities need to be connected to goal and indicators.

Capabilities have also a relation to those organizations that need that capability, and also to the means for ensuring that the capability will be reached. For instance processes, services, technical systems and more.

A completely described capability has also both indicators and relations to other element which together show how good a business is in putting that capability in use.

Capabilities are often categorized according to abstraction level or based on those means that are used for reaching them. For instance Business Capabilities or Technical Capabilities.

This means that capabilities could relate to each other and be broken down into details.
