A visual description of how it is planned that the applications at a modular level should exchange information with each other. The description is simplified in order to describe the requirement for information exchange.

Purpose

The IFD-view consists of an overall image of information flows, usually in a specific application area. This view type is used to identify the requirement for the integration points as well as the information that should be transferred.

Way of Working

  1. Choose some of the logically related application areas, for example from an information flow, a service flow of a process group.
  2. Identify those applications that are included in the intermediate flow (See IM).
  3. Identify those application modules that are a part of the flow.
  4. Identify which information objects need to be transferred. (Start from the list of identified and confirmed information objects)
  5. Connect the objects to the flows.
